LUCKY'S INCREDIBLE STORY
A Bobcat Attack Changed Everything!
When we found her, she couldn't walk. She was scared, injured, and fighting for her life.
We rushed her to the emergency vet. The prognosis wasn't good. But Lucky lived up to her name.
Lucky made a full recovery. She spent her long life here, days by our pond and nights in a special playpen designed for her comfort and safety. She required ongoing monitoring, specialized care, and regular veterinary check-ups to ensure that she stayed healthy.
But Lucky's Story Gets Even Better...
🐥 Lucky Adopted an Orphan Gosling!
While recovering, Lucky did something extraordinary - she adopted an orphan gosling we call Baby Goose.
Despite her own trauma and recovery, Lucky became a devoted mother figure. Baby Goose followed Lucky everywhere, and Lucky taught him how to be a goose - even from his playpen.
Their bond is a testament to the resilience and compassion animals show each other when given a safe place to heal.

to dozens of ducks and geese who survived incredible hardships:

Several geese rescued from food markets - Saved hours before slaughter, now thriving at our sanctuary
Geese rescued from animal control - Condemned to be shot, we gave them a second chance
Many with mobility issues and chronic conditions requiring specialized care
🦆 60 Ducks - Rescued from Dire Situations
Four Whistling Ducks (+ offspring!) - Return to our sanctuary every year, bringing their families back to safety
Ducks rescued from animal control - Scheduled for euthanasia, now living peacefully on our pond
Ducks rescued from food markets - Saved from slaughter, now enjoying life as they should
Many abandoned in parking lots, ditches, and roadside - Dumped by owners who no longer wanted them
Special needs ducks requiring adapted housing and daily medical care
WHY THESE WATERFOWL NEEDED US
Saved from Animal Control
Many of our ducks and geese were deemed "nuisance animals" by local authorities. Animal control was ordered to shoot them.
We stepped in. Instead of being killed, these beautiful birds were brought to our sanctuary where they now live in safety.
Rescued from Food Markets
Several of our geese and ducks were destined for slaughter at live food markets. Hours before their deaths, we intervened and brought them home.
Now they swim in our pond, raise families, and live the lives they deserve.
Abandoned & Dumped
Ducks and geese are often bought as "cute ducklings" for Easter or backyard ponds. When they grow up, owners dump them in parks, parking lots, or on the side of the road.
These birds can't survive in the wild. Domestic waterfowl lack the survival skills of their wild cousins. Without sanctuary, they starve, are hit by cars, or are killed by predators.
We give them permanent homes.
