At Crazy K Livestock and Poultry, we don't just rescue animals â we give them a second chance at life. Every chicken, duck, goose, and livestock animal in our sanctuary has overcome abandonment, abuse, or neglect to find safety, healing, and love.

ð Gertrude - The Survivor
Her Story: Gertrude arrived at our sanctuary in devastating condition. She was severely underweight, terrified of people, and had a zip-tie cruelly fastened around part of her beak.
Most people would have given up on her. But we didn't.
Today: Gertrude has a full, beautiful coat of feathers and confidently roams the entire sanctuary like the queen she is. She lays gorgeous eggs, has befriended our volunteers, and mentors newly arrived hens who come to us in similar condition. Gertrude's transformation reminds us why this work matters.
ð Bear - Where It All Began
His Story: Bear was the brave dog who started our rescue journey. His story of courage and resilience inspired us to create this sanctuary and dedicate our lives to saving animals who had nowhere else to go.
Legacy: Though Bear has crossed the Rainbow Bridge, his spirit lives on in every animal we rescue. Our main sanctuary gate is named "Bear's Gate" in his honor, welcoming every new arrival to the safe haven he inspired us to create.
ðĶ Waddles - The Parking Lot Duck
His Story: Waddles was found abandoned in a grocery store parking lot on a scorching Texas summer day. Someone had dumped him there with no food, no water, and no shelter. A compassionate shopper called us, and we rushed to pick him up before he succumbed to heat exhaustion.
Today: Waddles has become the unofficial mayor of our waterfowl pond. He greets every visitor with enthusiastic quacking, leads our duck flock during daily swims, and has taught several younger ducks the proper way to forage for treats. His personality is as big as his heart.
ð The Golden Girls - Senior Sanctuary
Their Story: Five senior hens arrived together from a closing farm. Their previous owner could no longer care for them and wanted to ensure they had a safe retirement home rather than being culled. These girls had spent years laying eggs and deserved to live out their golden years in peace.Â
Today: The Golden Girls spend their days dust bathing in the Texas sun, teaching younger birds proper coop etiquette, and enjoying mealworms as special treats. They've formed an inseparable friendship circle and prove that senior animals deserve love and care just as much as younger ones.
ð Henrietta - The Dog Attack Survivor
Her Story: Henrietta came to us with severe injuries from a dog attack. Her back was covered in wounds, she had lost significant feathers, and she was too traumatized to eat properly. She spent her first week hiding in the corner of our medical coop.
Today: With patience, veterinary care, and gentle handling, Henrietta has blossomed. Her feathers have grown back, her wounds have healed, and she now enjoys human interaction. She's particularly fond of our sanctuary manager and follows her around hoping for extra treats.
ðĶĒ Goose - The Misnamed Goose (Actually a Duck)
His Story: When we received a call about a "lost goose," we arrived to find... a duck. The caller didn't know the difference, but we didn't care â this lost waterfowl needed help regardless of species! "Goose" (as we affectionately named him) had wandered away from his flock and couldn't find his way home.
Today: Goose has fully integrated into our duck pond community. Despite his mistaken identity, he's thriving alongside his new duck family. He's a reminder that labels don't matter â what matters is giving every animal the care they deserve.
