Our Rescued Cats
Our Cats - Each Requires Daily Medical Care

We selectively take in cats that other rescues can't help - those with special medical needs requiring ongoing care. Every cat in our sanctuary has unique challenges, but they all deserve love, comfort, and dignity.

These aren't just cats - they're survivors who depend on us for their quality of life.r Story:

WHY THESE CATS NEEDED US

Rejected by Other Rescues
Most animal rescues operate on tight budgets and can't accept cats with chronic medical conditions. The daily cost of medications, specialized diets, and frequent vet visits makes special needs cats "un-adoptable."

We didn't turn them away.

When other rescues said no, we said yes. These cats deserve care just as much as healthy cats - maybe even more, because they've already suffered so much.

Chronic Medical Conditions
Our special needs cats face ongoing health challenges:

Diabetes - requiring twice-daily insulin injections
Kidney disease - needing prescription diets and subcutaneous fluids
Hyperthyroidism - daily medication to regulate thyroid function
Heart disease - requiring cardiac medications and monitoring
Arthritis - pain management and joint supplements
Dental disease - specialized soft food and regular dental care
Asthma - daily inhaled medications
Blindness or deafness - requiring adapted living spaces

These conditions don't go away. These cats need lifetime care.

🐱 Alice - Fighting Mammary Cancer with Dignity

Her Story:

Alice came to our sanctuary as a senior cat facing one of the most challenging diagnoses: mammary cancer. Most shelters would have euthanized her immediately, deeming her "too expensive" to treat.

We didn't give up on Alice.

With the help of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, Alice received the specialized cancer treatment she deserved. The veterinary team performed life-saving surgery, and Alice spent her recovery at our sanctuary surrounded by love and expert care.

Today:

Alice lived out her remaining time with comfort, dignity, and love - not fear or pain. She proved that senior cats with cancer deserve quality end-of-life care, not immediate euthanization.

Alice's legacy reminds us: Every cat deserves medical care, regardless of age or diagnosis.

Senior Cats Deserve Love Too
Several of our cats are elderly - surrendered when their owners could no longer afford their care or didn't want to deal with medical issues.

Senior cats are often the first to be euthanized at overcrowded shelters.

We give them peaceful, comfortable retirements. They sleep on soft beds, receive pain medication when needed, and spend their golden years surrounded by love - not fear.

Give subcutaneous fluids to kidney disease cats
Clean litter boxes (more frequently for cats with urinary issues)

Fresh prescription food and water
Final health check before bedtime
Comfort care (soft bedding, heating pads for arthritic cats)
This is every single day. No holidays off. No breaks. No vacations. These cats depend on us.

WHY SPECIAL NEEDS CATS MATTER

They Feel Love and Pain Just Like Healthy Cats
Just because a cat has diabetes or kidney disease doesn't mean they don't purr when petted, play with toys, or seek human companionship.

They deserve quality of life.

With proper care, cats with chronic conditions can live comfortably for years. They're not suffering - they're thriving, thanks to the medications and support we provide.

No One Else Will Take Them
When we say no, these cats have nowhere to go. Shelters euthanize them immediately. Private rescues can't afford their care. Owners surrender them because vet bills are too high.

We are their last chance.

Every Life Has Value
Whether a cat is young or old, healthy or sick, they deserve love and safety. We don't pick and choose based on who's easiest to care for.

We care for the ones who need us most.
